The Superb performance of the team seems to rekindle a ray of hope ..... maybe the team is not bad as time and again reported by the media. The win against South Africa proved a point - we still have the potential to top the ranks. I am just waiting for the next match ... and pray that we keep up the winning streak... but the series also raises questions of Ganguly's future in the squad .... undoubtedly ganguly is one of the most successful Captains so far ...... will he continue to remain Captain? more importantly after the fine captaincy displayed by Dravid would be wise enough to recall him as Captain?

I read on for about 30 minutes an got so engrossed that i had forgotten that i had to attend boring lectures .....chapter 2 of the scripture says ..... man has a right to his work but not a right to the results or outcome of his work........ this has given me some food for thought... let me ponder it over

The Uttranchal High Court has ordered the closure of Tunnel 2 of the Theri dam on River Bhagirathi that has resulted in Old Theri submerging and vanishing from India's Map. It is indeed a heart breaking experience for the residents of Theri.
I had once made a documentary on the employment issues affecting the oustees of the Indira Sagar project in M.P. it was a unforgettable experience. it was hard to believe that the land i stood would be submerged in a years time. the poor residents of Harsud who were evacuated from their homes had no where to go .. people living in shanty homes and tents... the same fate awaits the residents of Theri.... but this matter also raises larger questions where are the NGO's that have yelled there lungs out against the Sardar Sarovar and the Indira Sagar? why does the media seem so unconcerned ... i see loads of print or as they say 'news' on sania mirza celebrating her birthday.... front pages of major newspapers splashed with photographs of the celebrations!!!!! there is barely any 'news' about the fate of the residents of Theri!????? what is the government doing?? Why do we need a government at all when it cannot protect the lives and property of its nationals? Where is judicial activism??? What ever happened to Article 21 of the Indian Constitution??? The whole episode stinks of government apathy and lack of concern for environment.
on the other hand the poor people in Kashmir now homeless will find a new abode.. in Heavens if relief does not reach fast .... the government has again failed to protect its interest.... it is not that i am a ardent supporter of any party but i am a concerned national who is witnessing devastation of my country in front of my own eyes..... the cold wintry nights are bound to take more lives than the earthquake itself..... the opening of the LOC seems to just give political mileage to parties .... and we have in India a totally irresponsible government backed by a even more irresponsible opposition, an opposition that is more concerned about Natwar singh's involvement in the food for oil scam than these two major issues........ "Congress ka haat aam aadmi ke saath" .... the irresponsibility of the government seems to suggest to the contrary ...
It is time that we become responsible citizens and raise our voice ...
I have uploaded some pictures of human suffering .... a picture of old theri that once was .. ..

If the reports are believed to be true then the US government must to made to explain its actions in Iraq. Italy's new agency RAI has claimed US Military used White Phosphorus during its assault at Falluja. The news agency has put up some photos on its website.

US claims that it did use white phosphorus but only for the purpose of illuminating the battlefields!! But white phosphorus is known to burn substances within 150m of its contact with any object. The Use of incendiary weapons such as White Phosphorus is prohibited for attacking civilians (Protocol III of Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons) not surprisingly US is not a signatory to Protocol III. Its time that the international community raise its voice and investigate into other such barbaric actions of the allied forces. Its time to make its allies and US accountable for the all human right violations in Iraq.

There was a middle-age couple that had two stunningly beautiful
teen-age daughters. The couple decided to try one last time for the son they always wanted.

After months of trying, the wife became pregnant and, sure enough,
delivered a healthy baby boy nine months later. The joyful father rushed to see his new son. He took one look and was horrified to find the ugliest child he had ever seen.

He went to his wife and said that there was no way that he could be
the father of the child. "Look at the two beautiful daughters I fathered," he cried. Then he gave her a stern look and asked, "Haveyou been fooling around on me?"

The wife smiled sweetly and said, "Not this time."

The Second Affair

A mortician was working late one night. It was his job to examine the dead bodies before they were sent off to be buried or cremated.
As he examined the body of Mr Schwartz, he made an amazing discovery
Schwartz had the longest private part he had ever seen!

"I'm sorry, Mr Schwartz," said the mortician, "but I can't send you
off to be cremated with a tremendously huge private part like this. It has to be saved for posterity." And with that the coroner used hi scalpel to remove the dead man's privates.

The coroner stuffed his prize into a briefcase and took it home.
The first person he showed was his wife. "I have something to show you that you won't believe," he said, opening his briefcase.

"Oh, my God!" she screamed, "Schwartz is dead!"

The Third Affair

A woman was in bed with her lover when she heard her husband opening
the front door. "Hurry!" she said. "Stand in the corner!" She quickly rubbed baby oil all over him and then she dusted him with talcum powder.

"Don't move until I tell you to," she whispered. "Just pretend you're a statue."

What's this, honey?" the husband inquired as he entered the room.
"Oh, it's just a statue," she replied nonchalantly. "The Smiths bought one for their bedroom. I liked it so much, I got one for us,too."

No more was said about the statue, not even later that night when they went to sleep. Around 2 a.m., the husband got out of bed, went to the kitchen and returned a while later with a sandwich and a glass of milk.

Here," he said to the statue, "eat something. I stood like an idiot at the Smiths' for three days, and nobody offered me as much as a glass of water."

The Fourth Affair

A man walks into a bar one night. He goes up to the bartender and asks for a beer.

"Certainly, sir," replies the bartender. "That'll be 1 cent."

"ONE CENT!" exclaims the customer. The barman replies, "Yes."
So the guy glances over the menu and asks, "Could I have a nice juicy T-bone steak with chips, peas and a fried egg?"

"Certainly, sir," replies the bartender, "but all that comes to real
money."

"How much money?" inquires the guy.

"Four cents," the bartender replies.

"FOUR cents!" exclaims the guy. "Where's the guy who owns this place?"

The bartender replies, "Upstairs with my wife."

The guy asks, "What's he doing with your wife?"

The bartender replies, "Same as I'm doing to his business."

The Fifth Affair

Jake was dying. His wife, Becky, was maintaining a candlelight vigil
by his side.

She held his fragile hand, tears running down her face. Her praying
roused him from his slumber. He looked up and his pale lips began to move slightly,
"My darling Becky," he whispered.

"Hush, my love," she said. "Rest. Shhh, don't talk."

He was insistent. "Becky," he said in his tired voice, "I have
something I must confess to you."

"There's nothing to confess," replied the weeping Becky. "Everything's all right. Go to sleep."

"No, no, I must die in peace, Becky. I slept with your sister, your
best friend, her best friend and your mother!"

"I know," Becky whispered softly, "That's why I poisoned you."

The Sixth Affair

An elderly gent was invited to his old friend's home for dinner one
evening.
He was impressed by the way his buddy preceded every request to his
wife with endearing terms - "Honey," "My Love," "Darling," "Sweetheart," "Pumpkin," etc. The couple had been married almost 70 years and, clearly, they were still very much in love.

While the wife was in the kitchen, the man leaned over and said to his host,

"I think it's wonderful that, after all these years, you still call
your wife those loving pet names."

The old man hung his head. "I have to tell you the truth," he said. "I forgot her name about 10 years ago."

dinner. His birthday was coming up and he thought this was a good time to tell his mother what he wanted. "Mom, I want a bike for my birthday." Little Bobby was a bit of a troublemaker.
He had gotten into trouble at school and at home. Bobby's mother
asked him if he thought he deserved to get a bike for his birthday.
Little Bobby,of course, thought he did.
Bobby's mother, wanted Bobby to reflect on his behavior over the last year.

"Go to your room, Bobby, and think about how you have behaved this year. Then write a letter to God and tell him why you deserve a bike for your birthday." Little Bobby stomped up the steps to his room and sat down to write God a letter.

Letter 1
Dear God,
I have been a very good boy this year and I would like a bike for my birthday. I want a red one.
Your friend,
Bobby

Bobby knew that this wasn't true. He had not been a very good boy
this year,so he tore up the letter and started over.

Letter 2
Dear God,
This is your friend Bobby. I have been a good boy this year and I would like a red bike for my birthday.
Thank you.
Your friend
Bobby

Bobby knew that this wasn't true either. So, he tore up the letter
and started again.

Letter 3
Dear God,
I have been an "OK "boy this year. I still would really like a bike for my birthday.
Bobby

Bobby knew he could not send this letter to God either. So, Bobby wrote a fourth letter.

Letter 4

God,
I know I haven't been a good boy this year. I am very sorry. I will be a good boy if you just send me a bike for my birthday. Please!
Thank you,
Bobby

Bobby knew, even if it was true, this letter was not going to get him a bike. Now, Bobby was very upset. He went downstairs and told his mom that he wanted to go to church. Bobby's mother thought
her plan had worked, as Bobby looked very sad. "Just be home in
time for dinner," Bobby's mother told him. Bobby walked down the street to the church on the corner. Little Bobby went into the church and up to the altar. He looked around to see if anyone was
there. Bobby bent down and picked up a statue of the Virgin Mary. He slipped the statue under his shirt and ran out of the church, down the street, into the house, and up to his room. He shut the door to
his room and sat down with a piece of paper and a pen.Bobby began
to write his letter to God.

Letter 5

God,
I'VE KIDNAPPED YOUR MAMA. IF YOU WANT TO SEE HER AGAIN, SEND THE BIKE!
